Speaking my truth

Im a little opinionated today, well lets be honest I am most days but today more so than most. I think because im feeling stronger physically and mentally and handling things better im thinking about things clearer.

I post quite openly about life, about death. About the situations we find ourselves in and how we handle them shapes us and those around us but in doing so I give quite large pieces of myself away. I trust that people aren't going to zero in on the worst parts of me, the insecurities or the flaws.

Everyone judges people, anyone who says they dont is either a saint or a liar in my book, and i am neither.

In my recent posts on social media particularly bereavement related ones Ive had alot of religious responses - now I have nothing against religion - each to their own. But i have made my own personal beliefs clear. Yet it still happens on a regular basis and I wonder if it is because the person genuinely thinks that it will help you or it is actually about them and their needs.

The things I have seen have never led me to believe in a greater being and im not about to start searching for that now, I am a firm believer that we make our own destiny in life and our experiences are a large part of that. I will politely ask once if a pushy conversation starts, after that I guess all bets are off, if you can pitch your truth then I can pitch mine.

I sometimes think that it must be nice to have the kind of faith that religion brings, but we all have our ways of dealing with life stresses. I may not believe in that higher being but i do believe that we draw the strength we need from those around us. That our good deeds are rewarded, our pain is felt by those close to us and our impact on the world around us important and precious.

I love to discuss the things that spark joy in people, the things that excite them. I wish more people spoke about what they are passionate about unashamedly. We should never make ourselves small for the benefit of others But we need to learn that we can speak our truths without pushing them on others. Its how we learn, how we grow and how we share.
